Community BBQ and Backpack Giveaway a Tremendous Success in Assembly District 60

Perris, CA – On Saturday, July 27th, Assemblymember Dr. Corey Jackson hosted a successful Community BBQ and Backpack Giveaway at Mercado Park in the City of Perris. The event ran from 11am to 3pm and drew a large crowd, with community members coming together to support students and families as they prepare for the upcoming school year.

One of the event's highlights was the thrilling competition for the title of Best BBQ in AD 60. Local BBQ companies went head-to-head, showcasing their culinary talents and vying for the coveted title. The winner of this exciting contest will be announced tomorrow.

A total of 500 backpacks were distributed to students, ensuring they have the supplies needed to start the school year off right. In addition, over 700 meals, including BBQ plates, hotdogs, and nachos, were served to attendees.

"The Community BBQ and Backpack Giveaway highlighted the power of unity and collaboration within our community," said Assemblymember Dr. Corey Jackson. "I am incredibly proud of the efforts put forth by everyone involved, and I look forward to continuing our work together to serve the residents of Assembly District 60. This event exemplifies the significant impact that can be achieved when community partners and public officials work collaboratively.
