Sacramento - Assemblymember Dr. Corey A. Jackson announces the introduction of AB 1451: Same-Day Billing, is aimed at improving mental health services for communities in need. AB 1451 will provide funding for counties to increase mental health in-patient and out-patient mental health urgent care units in low income communities. This bill will also fund Community Based Organization (CBO) community health worker programs.
AB 1451 will ensure consistency in patient medical record transfer and continuity, and medical service providers will be required to allow for same-day billing for medical services provided. Mental health referral denials will be prohibited until 2026, and clinics will be utilized for outpatient crisis and psychiatric services.
