(SACRAMENTO) – Today, the Assembly unanimously approved Assembly Bill 1000 by Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes (D-Corona). This bill would require higher education institutions to review and update written procedures and protocols related to sexual assault and harassment each academic year in collaboration with sexual assault counselors and representatives of students, faculty, and staff.

AB 710 would address student homelessness and college affordability by ensuring housing costs provided to students are calculated in a fair, consistent, and accurate way every year.

Assembly Committee Approves Cervantes Bill to Reduce Student Debt

(SACRAMENTO) – Today, the Assembly Committee on Higher Education approved Assembly Bill 140 by Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes (D-Corona) by a vote of 8 to 2. AB 140 would create the California “Kickstart My Future” Loan Forgiveness Program which would provide qualified recent college graduates with relief from federal student loans for up to 24 months after graduation.
