Support Student Veterans
Veterans are often faced with challenges beyond the scope of achieving a higher education. I believe it is important for our veterans to have the adequate resources available to them in their pursuit of a higher education. Join me in an effort to fund Veteran Resources Centers on our California community colleges by signing my petition below:
I hope you will join me in asking Governor Brown to provide $25 million to fund Veteran Resource Centers (VRCs) on 60 of California’s community college campuses.
There are over 70,000 student veterans in California. Yet, there is no dedicated funding source for any VRC on our community college campuses. Student veterans face unique challenges, including navigating G.I. Bill benefits and connecting with services from the V.A.
Veteran Resource Centers would offer specifically tailored services to the needs of our student veterans all in one place: tutoring, on-campus V.A. services, and a chance to build a community with fellow veterans.
Having already sacrificed so much for our nation, it is essential that we insist on supporting our student veterans attending community colleges. Please join me in supporting the funding of VRCs on 60 of our community college campuses.
Thank you for your effort in authoring and driving this measure forward.
