Cervantes to Chair Legislative Hearing on Supporting our Student Veterans

Monday, October 23, 2017

(SACRAMENTO) – On Wednesday, October 25th at 1:30 PM, Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes (D-Corona) will chair a field hearing of the Assembly Select Committee on Veteran Employment & Education at Norco College in Norco, California.

The hearing will explore expanding employment and educational opportunities for our student veterans at our community colleges. Assemblymember Cervantes led the bipartisan effort to secure state funding to expand Veterans Resource Centers (VRCs) at community colleges across California. VRCs provide student veterans with key resources and assistance to facilitate their transition into higher education and the civilian workforce.

Witnesses providing testimony will include Chancellor Eloy Ortiz Oakley of the California Community Colleges, and Deputy Secretary Keith Boylan from the California Department of Veteran Affairs.

The hearing will be followed by the unveiling of the future site of a new Veterans Resource Center that will continue to make Norco College a nationwide example for supporting our student veterans.

When: Wednesday, October 25th from 1:30 to 3:30 PM

Where: The Center for Student Success, Room 217 at Norco College (2001 Third Street, Norco CA)
